IELTS Preparation

How Lee had worked on his language?

He underwent language training classes for six months in our language school. He showed unbelievably great improvement in his English in these six months. When I used to teach, he used to listen with so much of attention that I many times I had to snap my fingers to see if he had not gone into his own self-made world etc. He studied with great interest. He did what was instructed. He developed the habit of reading English newspaper. He developed the habit of speaking in English with the locals. He stopped making use of his local Chinese language (whenever he used to be among his friends). He used to speak in his own learned English language. His beginning was really meager but he really came a long way. He began speaking broken English sentences. He used to join together different and different words he had learned and tried to speak in front of people who are English.

He practiced and practiced and finally he brushed up his language at the end of the course. Lee was one of those students who have never said no to Dedication and Perseverance. Now, he was all ready to go for the IELTS exam but even before that there was another things that which could not have been neglected and that was related to the IELTS preparation or the IELTS practice (yes, Lee had to spend time for IELTS practice to gain improvement or to better understand this test).

IELTS

What was lee’s problem?

Well, as I have already said that lee was a Chinese and was not so very good at English, (though his Chinese was good which made me learn a bit of Chinese). He was a student who was aiming to go to Australia for he wanted to continue his studies there. Lee was a good student as I had seen his credentials which really made me think how can such a bright student have difficulty in speaking English but later I came to know that his medium of instruction was Chinese and English was just the subject and the teachers used to teach English only as a subject not as a the language.

Lee had to improve his English to take IELTS exam:

If Lee wanted to pass in IELTS so he started to work on the improvement of his English language. His English language was not good. He was able to speak only a few of the common sentence such as: How are you? How do you do? I am fine, Good Morning or Good Evening, Good Afternoon or other sentences which are a part of the day-to-day conversations. He was not even an average speaker of the English language. His level was below the level of the average English speaker. When he expressed his wish to pass in IELTS exam I was a bit surprised because he was expressing that thing in his broken English language which was not at all good.

Learning English can be the best way

During my career as an IELTS trainer, I have come across students who preferred to go for English language classes before they get trained for their IELTS exam. Let me explain this to you in a brief manner here. Just a few months back I came across a student who was from china. He was preparing for the IELTS exam. He was a Chinese, his name was lee. He knew a little bit of English language but level of English was not enough to get through this International English Language Testing System or test what we call in short IELTS test.

If you are aiming to get through this IELTS test then you really need to have good English and if your English language is so very bad and you are able to understand or speak only a few introductory sentences in English then it will truly not help you. You will not be able to pass out in flying colors. In order to be able to get a score which can let you get admission in a good university or in a good or a highly reputed college in Australia, Canada, New Zealand etc or other English speaking countries, you need to focus more on IELTS practice or IELTS preparation.
